What Is This Box?
If you’ve come across a small wooden box on a tree, fence post, or tucked into a quiet corner, you’ve likely found one of our swarm boxes. These boxes are placed here by Modern Antique Farming as part of a local effort to rescue and relocate honeybee swarms.
Why Is It Here?
Honeybee colonies naturally divide by swarming. When this happens, a large group of bees leaves the hive with a new queen to find a new home. Our swarm boxes provide them with a safe, temporary shelter until we can move them into a proper hive at one of our apiaries or a willing local property.
By giving swarms a place to land, we help prevent them from settling in unwanted or unsafe places—like wall cavities, sheds, or playground equipment—and instead relocate them into healthy, managed hives where they can thrive and continue pollinating the local ecosystem.
What To Do If You See Bees Inside
If the swarm box has bees coming and going, please do not touch or move the box. The bees are harmless if left alone, and we will check the box soon.
🟡 Let us know by filling out the short form linked below so we can collect the swarm safely.
